Might be Apple's fault though, since the driver works fine with other apps.So far my only concern is that the scanner light stays on permanently, and there is no on/off switch Get the answer AnonymousSep 22, 2004, 8:07 PM Archived from groups: comp.periphs.printers (More info?)I have a 5100C, and the infamous error 41.....There was some postingslast year about how to clean the I shall be contacting Brother. They will not cover your repair BUT they will send you out the equivalent in ink!!! So the unit is presumably sucking power and wearing out the scanner light 24 hours a day. I will only use genuine inks from now on. It should be simple if you follow the directions exactly, rather than just diving in and mucking around. As far as text printing goes, this unit has average, acceptable quality for an

The machines are junk, are no longer in production and worse, Brother knew they were junk when they put them on the market. it happened just after the 12 month warranty expired.
If anyone have had this problem please help me! He replaced the head and it worked fine for another 2 years - until, I ran out of ink and needed to print something in a hurry. There are other problems related to the error 41 message but this seems to be the most common. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/16204-3-brother-5100c-error-call-brother They always *seem* to be good on the surface but reliability is the pits.
Kind of weary of touching the print head but hopefully it will be okay. They pay us way too little and wors us way too hard to be a sounding board for your frustrations. they should fix it.Some more advice to anyone who has one of these machines and hasn't had the error yet. by Galkaen on Oct 16, 2006 at 11:16am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I bought 3 of these junkers for 3 different family members before we discovered just

If you are using good and genuine Brother cartridges and you still get the same issue, then the printhead is defective. (The printhead is the part of the printer that puts E(Brothers' names) = 4 + (n 4)P.
Brother refused to fix the problem, so i bought another printer. We just replaced the printer cartridges yesterday and it was working as we printed out a college game schedule. Because it was still under warranty they sent me a new one. this contact form John Capucci, You just answered my question re: Error 41 on my Brother printer.
